Saab has finally converted its memorandum of understandings with Pangda and Youngman into proper contracts which will see the three work together to first save Saab from itself, and to also develop Saab in the potentially lucrative Chinese market.
The big hurdle ahead for all companies involved are the governments of the Sweden and China, who will have to give the final nod to any international investment agreement prior to taking this further. The Chinese government are likely to demand a solid business plan from both Pangda and Youngman to prove that they can turn the ailing company around and to avoid wasting money and obviously to avoid embarrassing China on the international stage.
Saab has also signed a conditional agreement with Youngman which will see the two working on a Swedish based joint venture company which will work to develop three new models, the new models being a Saab 9-1, Saab 9-6X and the Saab 9-7. Saab will take the reigns with regards to development of the new vehicles from the drawing board to the testing process within its own state of the art facilities, and Youngman will provide the relevant funds to make the Saab’s jump from paper to production. Youngman are also likely to put the vehicles into production in China also
